The target audience includes the national and international community of researchers, academics, undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and the general public interested in Engineering and related disciplines.
- Journal History
The National University of Engineering, currently the Regional University Center in Estelí, won its first research competition in 2008, just three years after its establishment. This victory, focused on coffee-related research, propelled the development of competencies in our researchers to meet the expectations of productive sectors benefiting from research outcomes.
Engaging in research with faculty and students has fostered a strategic relationship with productive sectors, extending beyond the immediate results to explore research in other areas. The outcomes contribute new knowledge to the curriculum of our engineering programs, such as agribusiness. Research advantages are manifold, allowing faculty, researchers, students, and producers to engage in discussions on topics of mutual interest, benefitting both the stakeholders and society.
From this perspective, we see the university immersed in the country's development issues, actively contributing to finding solutions to presented problems. Therefore, we believe it is essential to have a journal that transcends university boundaries. Why a journal? Because dissemination is a fundamental pinnacle of research activities, enabling generated knowledge to become topics of discussion in classrooms, academic groups, producer meetings, and other relevant sectors.
This stimulates research activities, improves the quality of research, and enables the academic community, in collaboration with economic sectors in the region, to assess the relevance of the work done, strengthening partnerships.
We have decided that the magazine will be called “EL HIGO”, as the old Hacienda was called, where the university is located today. “EL HIGO” gives us the sense of belonging to this geographical place, which one day allowed the UNI to be born and transform into an Estelí Regional University Center recognized for its contribution to the generation of technologies and innovations, through scientificity. of their research and the constant search for continuous improvement.
The journal welcomes articles on scientific-technical aspects written from a specific discipline's perspective or with a multi and interdisciplinary approach. Topics may include opinions, forums, debates on innovative practices, and new technologies, among others. We invite the academic community to submit their research papers to share with educational, productive, and service sectors, who are the intended recipients of this journal. This ensures that the university's research activities have positive impacts in our region.
