Abstract

The work was carried out at the Guantánamo Basic Economic Unit, during the period from November 2021 to April 2023, belonging to the Transport and Mechanization Service Company of the AZCUBA Sugar Group. The objective was to analyze the sugar cane Saccharum officinarum Lin and its efficient transportation for the industry. The procedure assumed and applied in the research aligns with the technical realities of the productive entity. The efficiency in the transportation of the cane is evaluated as low, exceeding 23 percent of the total planned operation time, based on the application of different investigative methods and techniques. Times were established and determined for each activity included within the total operation time per working day. Based on the results obtained, the non-compliance with the total operation time in the Basic Economic Unit economically affected the entity by failing to earn 2,590.71 pesos per working day. A group of actions was proposed to mitigate subjective problems that, in one way or another, affect efficiency. This will allow the complementing of new development strategies in the efficient transportation of sugar cane, in line with the country’s needs.
