Abstract

The growing demand for English language skills in specialized contexts, driven by the internationalization of education and commercial expansion, has promoted the development of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) programs. This study analyzes the teaching strategies used in English subjects under the ESP approach within the Systems Engineering program of the National University of Engineering, Estelí Regional University Center. Using a non-experimental, transversal and descriptive design, a survey was applied to 102 students to evaluate the frequency of use of various strategies. The results reveal that strategies such as vocabulary search (35%), reading aloud (38%) and report writing (31%) are common, while others, such as reading scientific articles (21%) and use of technical bibliography (29%), are less frequent. This study highlights the need to integrate authentic materials and contextualized strategies to the professional profile of students to enhance their learning and job preparation.
