Duties of the Editorial Team

Director

Officially represent Revista Arquitectura +.

Duties:

  • Establish strategic vision, objectives, and editorial policies for the journal.
  • Supervise all the activities related to the publication.
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with other researchers, institutions, and journals.
  • Participate actively in the important decisions of the journal.
  • Promote the journal and its contents both nationally and internationally.

General Editor

In charge of direction, management, and supervision of the publications of Revista Arquitectura +, as well as of the quality and coherence of its contents.

Duties:

  • Ensure scientific and editorial quality.
  • Establish the editorial policies for the journal in conjunction with the Editorial Committee.
  • Review and evaluate the manuscripts received to determine compliance with editorial policies.
  • Produce a review schedule for each received manuscript.
  • Prepare the observations/recommendations for the improvement of quality of the reviewed manuscripts.
  • Assign peer reviewers according to the thematic area of the manuscripts.
  • Assure proper contact between authors and peer reviewers, to facilitate responses to questions and to provide guidance and feedback.
  • Provide copy edit reviews to manuscripts to assure organizational style and compliance with APA guidelines.
  • Review the final version of reviewed manuscripts to determine acceptance or rejection.
  • Convoke and preside over Editorial Committee meetings to coordinate the distribution of responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain a data base of peer reviewers.
  • Assure the compliance of the journal with established ethical and quality standards.
  • Design a commission when required to handle complaints or incidents regarding ethics issues in published or submitted manuscripts.
  • Maintain contact with data bases to achieve and maintain indexing of the journal.
  • Establish strategies of outreach and promotion of the journal.
  • Participate in conferences and events related to publicity for the journal.
  • Collaborate with other institutions and journals to increase the visibility and impact of the publications in the journal.
  • Make and present semester reports to the Editorial Committee.

Section editor

Supervises and manages a section of the journal arranged by accepted topics.  

Responsibilities

  • Perform selected duties of the General Editor, when for justified reasons, some of the responsibilities need to be covered.
  • Provide counsel to the Editorial Council in scientific and research matters.
  • Decide, together with the General Editor, whether manuscripts are accepted for peer review process or rejected.
  • Propose necessary measures and actions for the development of the journal.
  • Assure the compliance with norms and scientific and ethical requisites of the journal.
  • Ensure, in coordination with the General Editor, the topical pertinence and the overall rigor of all material to be published.
  • Invite prominent authors to contribute to the section and to participate in the planning of special numbers.

Editorial assistant

Supports the editorial management process.

Responsibilities

  • Record and manage contact information for authors, reviewers, and persons and institutions related to the editorial process.
  • Attend meetings of the Editorial Council.
  • Record minutes of the meetings related to the editorial process.
  • Update the data base for the journal (authors, reviewers, mail dates)
  • Record the verification preliminary process for verification of plagiarism or duplication of content.
  • Maintain tracking of the review process dates.
  • Assemble and transmit reports on peer reviews.
  • Collaborate with logistics for the journal in the case of conferences and events.

Editorial Council

Ensure compliance with the publication, editorial and scientific policies, and norms of the journal.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in review of the numbers of the journal prior to their publication.
  • Attend meetings where the general agreements of the Editorial Council.
  • Propose authors and topics for numbers of the journal.
  • Perform peer review when requested.
  • Advise the executive team (General Editor, Assistant Editor, and Editorial Assistant) when requested.
  • Perform particular tasks requested by the General Editor.

Peer reviewers

Evaluate manuscripts for quality and relevance of content for publication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain fluid communication with the Section Editor on assigned reviews.
  • Execute evaluations of manuscripts provided by the editorial team of the journal.
  • Evalúan la originalidad, identifican nuevas contribuciones en el campo.
  • Verify adequate citation of sources in the manuscripts.
  • Make recommendations regarding the acceptance, need for improvements, or acceptance of manuscripts.
  • Provide constructive feedback.
  • Comply with the ethical standards of the journal.
  • Perform review tasks within the time periods assigned.
  • Propose specific topics for the journal to cover.
  • Propose authors and manuscripts for coming numbers of the journal.
