When talking about graffiti, there is normally a natural rejection on the part of the residents of a certain context, and even more so when it is linked to an environment where there are elements of the urban landscape with a cultural heritage nature. But, the important thing to address here is that all these expressions are part of its same urban image as a result of what its own inhabitants generate. The city of Masaya is an emblematic city for its customs and traditions, opening up the different artistic expressions that are manifested periodically. But is there acceptance for urban art expressions such as graffiti? Masaya is no exception to find one or many of these artistic interventions on the walls of its buildings, which gives rise to confidence that projects can be generated with this technique addressing issues of the city's culture, implementing coherent strategies related to environmental factors and that generate balance with all its components. This is what is pursued with the exercise presented in this article, which seeks to validate a methodological proposal of a doctoral thesis for the implementation of graffiti in the sustainable development of the image of the urban space in the case study.
