Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the main changes in the urban image of Granada city’s historical center, a scenario of local relevance, that creates interest for it possess patrimonial and natural value within national context, which has led to the creation of plans and projects for interventions in the last decades. Bringing with them new actions that have altered and deteriorated the essence of its image and landscape, as well as giving way to other urban processes linked to the touristic offer/demand and globalization, neglecting the importance and patrimonial values the site represents for the city and its people.

Author Biography

Néstor Saúl López Irías, National University of Engineering, Nicaragua

Architect and sociologist, with master's degrees in Cultural Heritage for Development and Research in Architecture and is a Doctor of Architecture. His lines of research include: urban, territorial and landscape planning, segregation, inequalities and urban fragmentation, and intervention in historic centers. Professional work experience in the development of architectural and urban projects and rehabilitation of buildings. Currently Professor of the Faculty of Architecture of the UNI.
